Celebrating Sparroways’ New Youth Space

New space, new opportunities, new memories.

June 2025: PD was honoured to attend the Sparroways Youth Space grand opening. Representing the team was Philo aka Pixel and Priscilla aka Peace.

A Community Celebration

Jegmal Williams (Founder) and Sakeenah Abdul (Co-Founder) started the Sparroways Restorative Justice Program (RJP) in 2022 to provide a safe space for the youth. At the time, rising violence meant the community spent less time in shared spaces.

With the newly elevated Youth Space, the RJP strengthens the RJP’s role as an anchor for Sparroways. Jegmal and Sakeenah plan to host fitness classes, life skills sessions, book clubs, DJing classes, and more in the years to come.

To celebrate, the community gathered to hear from fellow community members and supporting organizations. In attendance were representatives from Toronto Community Housing, Building Up, the office of Councillor Shelley Carroll, and Pixel Dreams. Youth leaders spoke on the journey of bringing the space to life.

Afterward, the RJP leaders and Councillor Shelley Carroll cut the ribbon together. We toured the new space: a fitness room, a DJ station, a hangout area with a TV and video game consoles, and thoughtful details throughout. Conversation, laughter, and music filled the courtyard as the community forged bonds over a shared pizza lunch.

Thank you, Sparroways and the RJP for inviting the PD Team to this memorable milestone. Pixel Dreams looks forward to supporting more opportunities for the Sparroways youth.
