This is the monumental story of how a billionaire conspired to bring down the gossip media outlet that outed him. It is a modern conspiracy told with historical anecdotes, including quotes from remarkable thinkers, the most prominent being Machiavelli. Crafted from incredible access and multiple interviews with the main players, Peter Thiel and Nick Denton. Topics include revenge, privacy, free speech, and lawsuits.

Admittedly, I am an avid researcher of conspiracies, and also a fan of both Hulk Hogan the wrestler, and the other books by Ryan Holiday. This is the most narrative-focused book I’ve read by Holiday. But in-between telling the story from begging-to-end, are the stoic philosophical tidbits that we have come to expect from reading Holiday.

I have wondered how Gawker got shutdown and with this book I was not disappointed.
