In 2003, Shirin Ebadi won a Nobel Peace Prize for her work in advocating for the oppressed and in 2018, she became my new hero. Throughout her life, she has been fighting for the little guy against the biggest guy of all: The Iranian Regime. This memoir is grippingly personal as Ebadi takes us through her trials as a Judge and lawyer, her imprisonment, her relationship with her husband and daughters and her choices in staying in Iran while everyone else was running away. This book made me cry from all of the emotions it made me feel.
