The Event Danforth

On October 18, 2012,

Two of our founders, KM and Lannie Le, attended a thought-provoking evening with Ray Kurzweil at The Danforth Music Hall in Toronto. Hosted by EMBRACE, the event marked the launch of their Speaker Series, featuring the renowned futurist known for his bold predictions on technology and human evolution.

At PD, we’re massive Star Trek fans, so Kurzweil’s vision of a tech-driven future felt like a glimpse into a world we’ve always imagined. We’ve been following Kurzweil for quite some time, and hearing him speak about AI, brain reverse-engineering, and human-machine integration was nothing short of inspiring. Kurzweil emphasized that within decades, advancements in computation and biotechnology could amplify intelligence a billionfold and even extend human life indefinitely.

A lively Q&A followed, with Kurzweil addressing both the promises and risks of AI.

As a company, we’re preparing and looking forward to the eventual coming of AI—hopefully in our lifetime! The event left us energized, reflecting on how these breakthroughs will shape industries, creativity, and the human experience.

The future isn’t coming—it’s already unfolding!

The Event Horizon

Kurzweil’s vision suggests we are approaching an Event Horizon—a point where technological acceleration becomes so rapid that life, intelligence, and reality itself will be fundamentally transformed. As AI, biotechnology, and brain reverse-engineering advance exponentially, the boundary between human and machine will blur, leading to a post-human era of limitless intelligence and potential immortality. This moment, predicted to arrive within decades, could redefine what it means to be human, making the future both thrilling and unpredictable.
