Trading Guns for Books

Khalid’s 40th Birthday Fundraiser

As his 40th approached, Pixel Dreams CEO Khalid didn’t want gifts or attention, but he also didn’t want the milestone to pass without meaning. That’s when he decided to turn his birthday into something that reflected his company’s core purpose of Raising I+A (Intelligence and Awareness).

Khalid organized a fundraiser for the Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL), an organization committed to replacing guns with books for young Afghans, with a goal of raising $40,000. The arrival of COVID-19 disrupted the plans, with lockdowns coming into effect the day after Khalid’s birthday party. The effort raised $11,073, a testament to our community’s commitment to making a difference, even in the most uncertain of times.
