One of the most interesting aspects of life at Pixel Dreams, in the past year, has been the Star Trek scholarship program. As part of its ongoing mission to fulfill our core purpose of Raising I+A, the company sponsored its full-time staff’s viewing of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager to the tune of $1000 per season, to a maximum of two seasons per quarter (max. $8000 per year).
The incredulous looks on the faces of people outside the company upon hearing about this program have been priceless. But our CEO Khalid clarified the scholarship’s purpose during one of our Friducation sessions: “If our company is willing to invest multiple thousands on consultants and programs for our teammates to learn about leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving, the investment-per-person for them to learn it through old-school Star Trek is a bargain.”
The PDT rose to this exciting challenge and devoured many seasons. People were grouped with others who had completed the same season for lunch-and-learn sessions. They recounted favourite quotes, shared business and leadership insights, and discussed the finer points of Star Trek’s vision of the future and how it relates to our company’s efforts in Raising I+A.

The Scholarship’s Future
This was a one-year challenge in 2024 but the response was so enthusiastic that the scholarship has been extended for those who are currently in the middle of a season. We look forward to further announcements about the return of the Star Trek scholarship program in the future.
