Claude 3: the ChatGPT Killer?
Claude 3 – better than ChatGPT? Is it self-aware?
Anthropic releases Claude 3, setting new industry benchmarks across reasoning, math, coding, multilingual understanding, and vision. Some observers have stated that it’s reached the status of being self-aware, having detected being tested, and generating a self-portrait. Anthropic was founded in 2021 by a group of former OpenAI engineers who didn’t agree with OpenAI’s decision to work closely with Microsoft.

OpenAI, Elon, and AGI
Elon Musk is suing OpenAI, the company he co-founded in 2015.
Elon’s suit claims that “OpenAI is currently developing a model known as Q* (Q-Star) that has an even stronger claim to AGI”, which would void their agreement with Microsoft, that only applies to pre-AGI tech. Regarding that Microsoft deal, Musk states that “the name, the open in open AI, is supposed to mean open source, and it was created as a nonprofit open source. And now it is a closed source for maximum profit”, fearing that the company is turning into merely a production shop for Microsoft.
AGI stands for Artificial General Intelligence which is a type of AI that can carry out decisions and tasks without the involvement of a supervisor, being a substitute for human intelligence.
Human-Like Conversational AI Voice Agents
Synthflow AI aims to simplify scheduling and lead qualification with AI.
The company says that their AI Voice Assistants “sound just like humans, and can be trained quickly with your data.” Their website seems to put a lot of focus on the real estate market but their stated use cases include making and receiving calls, appointment scheduling, call follow-up via SMS, and more. Their AI chatbot agent add-on can adapt to different stages of interaction, minimizing ‘hallucinations’ and extracting crucial information from conversations.

Chinese National Arrested for Stealing AI Secrets from Google
A former Google software engineer has been indicted for stealing over 500 proprietary files related to Google’s supercomputing infrastructure.
Linwei Ding, a Chinese national residing in California, faces four counts of trade secret theft after allegedly transferring confidential information to a personal account. He began working at Google in 2019, focusing on AI and machine learning software development, and is accused of engaging in this illicit activity from May 2022 until December 2023. Following his resignation and a brief attempt to leave for Beijing, Ding was arrested after an FBI investigation. This case highlights the U.S. Justice Department’s heightened focus on protecting artificial intelligence technology from foreign theft, marking it as a top priority for national security.
