May 2025: PD was honoured to participate in St Bernadette Elementary School’s Fiction Festival. Representing was Khalid aka Dreams and Priscilla aka Peace.
We had the opportunity to read some of our published books to the Grade 1 and Grade 4/5 classes. In addition to the read-alouds, we donated a package of PDverse books and merchandise. We’re grateful for the invitation and the opportunity to connect with our community.
On Fiction Festival
This past May, St Bernadette School hosted Fiction Festival, inviting local community members to read to the students. Pairs of volunteers visited classrooms, encouraging the love of reading and storytelling.

Our first stop was the Grade 1 class, where we were met with a wonderful surprise. The students were already big fans of Bouncy Belongings?!. The kids had read and studied the book for their data management and persuasive writing class. Soon into the read-aloud, they left their desks and joined us on the carpet to get a closer view of a familiar story.

For the Grade 4/5 class, we read from 5+6 Stories and the full story of Hungry Little Monster. After each story, the students engaged in thoughtful discussions about the characters and “Food for Thought” questions. The stories left the students intrigued, curious, and wanting more.
A little leave-behind gift.
Parting ways for the day, we donated a large PDVerse package of goodies, including:
- 10 sets of Bouncy Belongings?!
- 10 sets of Hungry Little Monster and the Hungry Little Monster Companion Book
- 10 sets of 5+6 Stories
- 2 Beagle Doodle Hats & 10 sets of Bouncy Belongings?! Stickers
Always a pleasure.
Thank you, Jennifer M and Lisa M, for bringing this collaboration to life. We’re thankful to the staff and students at St Bernadette for welcoming us.
We hope the PDVerse books serve the community well, introducing new stories and exciting adventures. We look forward to future opportunities to support the community and its leaders.
