AI Using Human Brain Cells
A Swiss company, FinalSpark, has created a biocomputer platform powered by lab-grown human brain cells, called “Neuroplatform.” These “living computers” aim to drastically reduce the energy required for AI by mimicking brain functions. Researchers can rent the platform for $500 a month to study its potential. While still experimental, these organoid-based systems offer a glimpse into a future where biological matter could outperform traditional silicon chips, despite challenges like short lifespans and ethical concerns.

Brands Use AI to Avoid Influencers’ Election Controversy
As the 2024 election approaches, brands are nervously eyeing their influencer partnerships, wary of any political chatter that could backfire. To help them avoid controversy, agencies like Captiv8 and Viral Nation are deploying AI tools that grade influencers on “brand safety,” predicting their likelihood of discussing politics. These tools analyze social media content, comments, and media coverage, giving influencers grades from “A” (very safe) to “C” (caution). With influencer marketing projected to hit $480 billion by 2027, brands are investing heavily to ensure they stay clear of political landmines.

NVIDIA Defending its Crown on Multiple Fronts
AMD is spending $4.9 billion to acquire ZT Systems, aiming to boost its AI capabilities and challenge Nvidia in the data center market. This move is part of AMD’s strategy to expand its AI portfolio and close the gap with its main competitor. Meanwhile, in South Korea, AI chipmakers Rebellions and Sapeon are merging to strengthen their position against global players like Nvidia, driven by the country’s goal to enhance its AI hardware industry. On the flip side, Nvidia is delaying the launch of its next-gen “Blackwell” AI chip, citing concerns about market demand, signaling a more cautious approach despite its leading position in AI hardware.
