Apple Event
At Apple’s iPhone 16 event, the company rolled out its latest updates with a mix of modest improvements and some long-anticipated changes. The iPhone 16 and 16 Pro now feature upgraded cameras, including a dedicated camera button for quicker access. The Pro models also bring in 4K video recording at 120 frames per second, and all devices across the lineup now use USB-C, finally ditching the Lightning port.
The Apple Watch Series 10 also made an appearance, boasting a thinner design and a new sleep apnea detection feature—pending FDA approval. AirPods 4 were updated too, with a more comfortable fit and improved sound quality, alongside new AI-powered audio features.
In short, the event highlighted Apple’s shift toward AI integration across its products, but aside from USB-C, the changes were more evolutionary than revolutionary
The World’s First International AI Treaty
The U.S., EU, and UK have signed the first legally binding international treaty on AI, focusing on human rights and accountability. This treaty holds signatories responsible for any harm or discrimination caused by AI systems, mandating that AI outputs respect privacy and equality. It also offers legal recourse for victims of AI rights violations. However, enforcement remains weak, relying on monitoring rather than penalties. This move marks a significant step in AI regulation, yet its true impact will depend on future enforcement measures.

OpenAI: Over 1 Million Paying Customers
OpenAI’s business version of ChatGPT has hit 1 million paid users just nine months after launching. Companies are snapping up the $20-per-month service to enhance productivity, while OpenAI is already rolling out updates to attract even more subscribers. Despite the rapid growth, OpenAI faces stiff competition as tech giants scramble to offer their own AI tools to enterprise clients. The race to dominate AI in the workplace is heating up, with OpenAI currently leading the charge.

AI Crypto Trading with Itself
Coinbase just facilitated its first crypto transaction between AI agents, marking a leap in autonomous tech. CEO Brian Armstrong revealed that an AI used crypto tokens to buy more tokens from another AI, showing the growing role of AI in finance. Armstrong sees this as key for AI agents to handle real-world tasks like booking services and making payments, areas currently limited by their lack of access to traditional banking. Crypto wallets offer a way around this, with instant, borderless transactions.

Truly Loopy AI Lip Sync
A new AI model called Loopy can generate realistic videos of people just by using audio, without needing extra data to control their movements. Normally, systems add motion templates to keep things steady, but that can make the results look unnatural. Loopy, however, learns natural motion patterns straight from sound, producing smoother and more lifelike results. Tests show it’s better than other models at making realistic videos across different situations.
